Today, we’re talking all about baseboards… and why they are so important! Believe it or not, baseboards are the FIRST thing that I tend to look at as soon as I’m entering a home. Whether it’s a home that I have listed or it’s a home that I’m bringing sellers through during a showing, you can believe it’s the one thing I’m checking out immediately.
Now you might be thinking… baseboards? Really? What about the kitchen cabinets, the flooring, or the light fixtures?! But, the reason is that baseboards can actually tell you A LOT about the way a person has maintained their home over the years.
I like to compare the maintenance of baseboards to flossing your teeth. You know, it’s something that if you do regular and look after, your overall appearance and smile are going to look and feel their best in the end.
If a person cleans their baseboards on a regular basis and looks after them, then you can feel good about trusting that they’re the type of person that will likely change those furnace filters, look after the maintenance of their home and are overall, mostly a lot more organized.
So, when I walk into a home, I don’t look at the staging or décor first thing. I look at the baseboards, and I think you should start doing that too.
Happy flossing! 😉
