This month’s Women in Airdrie Killin’ It spotlight is on Jessie Heron, owner of Airdrie Furniture Revival. She started this business out of her home in early 2014 — it started as a hobby, but grew quickly into the AMAZINGNESS that we see today!
Jessie specializes in creating functional art for your home, taking old, forgotten furniture, and turning it into a focal point for your space. If you haven’t checked out her storefront yet, you are missing out! Her stunning furniture is beautifully displayed throughout, while all manner of home décor items and gorgeously scented candles accent the space.
When asking Jessie how she defines success, here’s what she had to say:
Everyone has to define their own success. For me, personally, success and joy go hand in hand. All small business owners struggle daily, no matter how successful they are. But if you can find joy surrounding those struggles and you still want to do it again tomorrow… well, that’s success! The achievements, the money, the growth. That all follows when you love what you do.
If you’re thinking about starting a business, you’re going to want to read that advice again. She hit the nail on the head! Hard work can truly become a labour of love. It’s all worth it!
We also asked Jessie what piece of advice she would offer to anyone thinking of starting their own business and we absolutely love the wisdom of her words.
Be prepared to adapt, not fail. Changing your course doesn’t mean you won’t be successful; you owe it to yourself to try!
Her words also highlight the resilience needed to pursue your dreams. Don’t let the roadblocks define you, but rather see them as challenges to grow and learn!
Jessie’s favourite thing about Airdrie is that it’s such an amazing and supportive community. There are so many passionate people here!
And I have to say, we are so lucky to have such a talented, badass woman here in Airdrie. Thank you, Jessie — for letting us feature you in this series!
If you’re eager to support local businesses (which I know you are), pay her a visit. You won’t regret it.
